Welcome to Lewis-Gale Medical Center and our new Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs. We are excited to enable our participants to train in an environment within an active community Medical Center where they have the opportunity to rotate into the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem. In addition to the new GME facilities, our exceptionally skilled faculty serve as invaluable teachers and mentors to the residents as they utilize a variety of resources.

Our Internal Medicine residency welcomed its inaugural class in 2017, Psychiatry in 2018, and Family Medicine in 2019. As part of the GME expansion plans, we anticipate broadening the opportunities to include Emergency Medicine - with an inaugural class expected to begin in summer, 2020 - followed by Transitional Year and medicine subspecialties. With these additions by the year 2022, we will have over 140 trainees.

Since research is so important in the medical field, we place an emphasis on our experienced faculty providing residents with the best possible education, training, and support with those research projects and presentations in mind.
